Napier's finest Backpackers Accommodation facility. Centrally located, ARCHIES BUNKER was the first of the Unornamented Style of Art Deco buildings to be constructed after the devastating earthquake of 1931. Built in 1938, it was used as the Automobile Association regional office for 60 years before being refurbished and it now features modern accommodation and facilities within this Art Deco style building.
We are situated opposite the Napier museum, in a quiet tree-lined street within sight of the Napier information centre and only metres away from shops, bars, cafes and restaurants.
We provide low cost, clean, comfortable accommodation and can assure you of a memorable stay in our beautiful Art Deco City in the midst of New Zealand Wine Country - Hawkes Bay. Our facility sleeps over 50 people in spacious surroundings. We have two large lounges; both with Sky TV, DVD players and an extensive DVD library which is free to guests. One lounge is a peaceful retreat, while the other provides a pool table, large screen TV, board games etc. Off the main lounge we have a deck and large BBQ, ideal for relaxing and enjoying the traditional kiwi way of life. We are Qualmark certified with 4 star plus classification, members of RoamFree, Budget Backpackers Hostels Association (BBH) and the Tourism Industry Association of New Zealand.
