The Rooms

The six storey Aoraki Wing offers 60 deluxe rooms with exceptional views of Aoraki Mount Cook. A run of house room in the Aoraki Wing is a room allocated on any of the 6 floors (no particular floor is guaranteed). A 'Top three floor' and a 'Top floor Guaranteed' rate are also available. Bedding configuration: all rooms have two queen-size beds. All rooms have air conditioning, five Sky television channels, bathrobes, binoculars, in-room safes, tea & coffee making facilities, international direct dial telephones, refrigerator, floor to ceiling windows with exceptional views of Aoraki Mount Cook private bathrooms with bath, shower and toiletries. The four storey Wakefield Wing offers 40 superior rooms, each with a private balcony looking out towards Aoraki Mount Cook. Bedding configuration: all rooms have two queen-size beds. All rooms have a private balcony, five Sky television channels, binoculars, in-room safes, tea & coffee making facilities, international direct dial telephones, refrigerator, private bathrooms with bath, shower and toiletries. All rooms have air conditioning, five Sky television channels, bathrobes, binoculars, in-room safes, tea & coffee making facilities, international direct dial telephones, refrigerator, floor to ceiling windows with exceptional views of Aoraki Mount Cook private bathrooms with bath, shower and toiletries. The two storey Mount Cook Wing offers 43 superior rooms, each with a private balcony looking out towards Aoraki Mount Cook. Bedding configuration: rooms have either one queen-size bed, or two 3/4 beds (bigger than a single and slightly smaller than a double). All rooms have a private balcony, five Sky television channels, tea & coffee making facilities, international direct dial telephones, refrigerator, private bathrooms and toiletries. A Hermitage Run of House room is allocated anywhere in the Hermitage Hotel, including the Sefton and Tasman Wings. Bookings in the Run of House category do not guarantee views of Aoraki Mount Cook. Bedding configuration: The Sefton Wing has views of Mount Sefton and each room has 2 x 3/4 beds (bigger than a single, slightly smaller than a double bed). The Tasman Wing rooms, 6 of which have king size beds, look towards the Tasman Valley. All rooms have a private balcony, five Sky television channels, binoculars, tea & coffee making facilities, international direct dial telephones, refrigerator, private bathrooms and toiletries.

The Restaurant & Bars

Restaurant at The Hermitage, Aoraki Mount Cook Village The Alpine Restaurant offers sumptuous buffets, accompanied with spectacular views of Aoraki Mount Cook from every seat. Opening Hours: Breakfast: 6.30am – 9.30 am Lunch: 12.00pm – 2.00pm Dinner: From 6.00pm BREAKFAST: The Breakfast Buffet offers a full cooked breakfast, with a selection of pastries, breads, cereals, fresh fruit juices, tea and coffee. LUNCH: A Three Course table d` Hote Lunch is available daily. DINNER: The Dinner Buffet offers a wide range of fare including soup, salads, seafood, hot and cold meats and desserts with tea and coffee to follow. Dinner from May to September – on quiet nights the buffet may be replaced by an A La Carte or TDH menu - please ask when making your reservation. Buffet Dinner & Cooked breakfasts are included in some room packages. The Panorama Restaurant Open from 6pm all year round, meals are often accompanied by stunning views of the sun setting over the Mountains. This award-winning restaurant offers a menu featuring New Zealand's finest seafood and game. The Snowline Bar Ideal for a pre-dinner drink, the Snowline Bar provides some of the most spectacular views of Aoraki Mount Cook, and an enticing log fire. The Coffee Shop Located upstairs in the Hermitage building, the Coffee Shop is the ideal place to stop for your favourite coffee, with a spectacular terrace and unbelievable views. The Chamois Bar Perfect for a drink in relaxed surroundings, sit back and enjoy an authentic New Zealand pub meal. The big screen TV brings alive major sporting events or guests can enjoy a game of pool with the locals.

How to find us

BY CAR The drive from Christchurch to Mount Cook is 322 kms and takes approximately 4 ½ hours. Take State Highway 1 south from Christchurch until just after the township of Rangitata, where a right hand turn takes you onto State Highway 79. Once reaching the town of Fairlie, a right hand turn leads onto State Highway 8. Just after passing the southern end of Lake Pukaki, another right hand turn takes you onto State Highway 80. A short drive of 55km, will take you to the Mount Cook Village. The drive from Queenstown to Mount Cook is 264 kms and takes approximately 3 ½ hours. Take the road along side the Kawarau gorge (State Highway 6) north from Queenstown to Cromwell. From there, a left-hand turn takes you onto State Highway 8. Another left-hand turn 8 kilometres after the township of Twizel takes you onto State Highway 80, which is a 55 kilometre drive to the Mount Cook Village. The road condition from State Highway 8 to Mount Cook is usually very good, and does not require 4WD or chains. The road is sealed and not particularly steep in any one section. Occasionally during winter we will get snow and on such days road conditions can be checked before attempting the drive by going to www.aaroadwatch.co.nz . In very rare instances, if the road conditions are very bad, the road will be closed for a short while until the road is safe for all vehicles.
