The Wellesley is a magnificently restored grade one heritage building, designed by William Gray Young in 1927. This masterpiece was awarded a gold medal for architecture and is regarded as Wellington’s finest example of neo-Georgian architecture. In 2000 the hotel was tastefully restored, retaining its charm and elegance.
The location is absolutely central for business travelers, deep in the heart of the commercial district and close by to the Parliament building and the Beehive (the Cabinet offices). Leisure travelers will be well served as well, especially those in search of some retail therapy; Queens Wharf and Lambton Quay are both mere steps away.

The Wellesley Restaurant has seating for up to 80 guests and is definitely a place to be seen - the setting could so easily be a dining room in London’s district of St James. The Wellesley provides impeccable table service and an English-themed menu, lavished with an eclectic selection of modern cuisine.
Our Winebar features an open fire place (the only one remaining in Wellington’s Central Business District), which makes this the cosiest spot to be in a Wellington winter. Relax and unwind whilst listening to the charming music from our Grand Piano.

Breakfast is available seven days a week. Monday to Friday 7am to 10am, and on Saturday and Sunday's 8am to 10am. Lunch is served Monday to Friday from 12 noon to 2pm. Dinner is served Monday to Saturday night 6pm to 9pm. Hours are subject to vary, and the restaurant is closed for lunch and dinner on most public holidays.
